Serial Killer

Finding a way to condense 20 plus books into just four short days has become a challenge. Initially I thought it would be easy to tackle; just pick 5 and talk about them or - since some of the books I've read I could group them that way....but what to do with those that didn't fit into a group. I was perplexed.
Possibly as perplexed as the heroins (and a few hot hero's) trying to figure out who done it.
It appears that every single book I read featured some kind of nefarious activity surrounding MURDER - if there wasn't a murder - there certainly was an attempted murder.
For someone who never used to read anything resembling a murder - I have apparently stepped way out of my box. Sure, a lot of what I read is still Chick Lit - but now there is blood, guts, and occasionally the heroin bumps into (euphemism alert) a hot hero. In some of the books they are bumping into each other a lot and every detail is there for your eyes (and if you aren't careful your 13 year old daughters eyes too).
All of this thinking led me to wonder.... should I have a personalized book rating system? Because really, what would a book review be without some kind of fancy review system?
I choose Hearts & Stars for my codes; hearts for the heat level and Stars for how much I liked it.
1 Heart - I am comfortable with my daughter reading the scenes about bumping into
2 Hearts - Maybe when she is in High School
3 Hearts - Oh MY! That child seriously needs to be married with children before I'm letting her read this.
1 Star - I finished it
2 Stars - I'll give this author another read
3 Stars - I liked it - what can I else add to my Shelves?
4 Starts - WOWZA! Excuse me while I run to the library to get more of this authors books!
Nothing is scientific here of course - and you may give your 13 year old daughter stuff I wouldn't give mine.
Once the ratings scales were created I thought I'd start off with a "So-Far" series - meaning I surely hope that there are more books to come, The Molly Forrester Novels by Sheryl J. Anderson
Molly Forrester is an Advice Columnist at Zeitgeist Magazine wishing she was a more serious feature and investigative reporter instead. In the first installment we meet Molly, her friends Tricia and Cassady and hot homicide detective Kyle as Molly embarks on a haphazard journey to solve the murder of her coworker before she's found guilty!
Trying to stay out of trouble but still have fun Molly joins her best friends Tricia & Cassaday for a long wedding weekend in the Hamptons. Tricia's brother is marrying someone nobody is happy with - but everyone is shocked when the bride-to-be winds up dead.
Swearing to hot homicide detective Kyle that her days of detecting and getting herself into dangerous scrapes are behind her Molly is offered the job of a lifetime, an interview with Gwen Lincoln. Too bad Gwens exhusband has been murdered and Gwen is the #1 Suspect.
Finally Molly's publisher has realized that Molly has real talent and shouldn't be handcuffed to her advice column and offers her a plum assignment that shouldn't invovle murder. It's simple, write a profile of legendary rock music producer Russell Elliot who recently died of an accidental overdose. Only problem is Russells daughter doesn't by the accidental overdose theory and is sure her father was murdered!
Sadly, for those of you reading along electronically none of these books were available on Kindle and her Publishers website doesn't offer any links to e-books either.

If I can't get them on my Kindle, I always request them that way. I'm in the middle of all the Dresden Files books (love Harry Dresden), also just finished Host by the Twilight author (Stephanie Myer?) I liked it way better than the Twilight books.
Mmmm... Harry Dresden...
I like your rating system! You are so organized. Maybe you need to have a melting pool of hearts for "sheesh! I blushed while reading it and am pretty sure some of these things aren't even physically possible."
What Chris said.
Ooo, I'll have to try her books. Just finished Plum Spooky. So good and fun. Have decided I don't like the Avacado books after all. Couldn't even finish the last one I tried.
My absolute favorite writer - and I mean I buy all her books in hardback the instant they come out - is Jayne Ann Krentz. Her books are in the romance department, but they are not typical bodice-rippers. The heroine is always a strong woman, there is a mystery to solve, and of course, they find true love in the end. Very satisfying.
Also, for laugh-out-loud funny, I love Janet Evanovich.
Yay Books!
