Amsterdam

Thursday, January 17

Several years ago the planets aligned just right and I took a two week vacation to Europe. It was a place I didn't think I'd be able to get to until I was much older and no longer was fiscally responsible for two very expensive little children. But, a once in a lifetime opportunity came my way and I didn't hesitate; Europe, or at least little bits of it were going to be mine.

The leg of the journey through Amsterdam came about almost as an after thought. Surely we could've spent more time in England, gone to Scotland, or saw more of France; but, Amsterdam was intriguing and it fit nicely into our itinerary.

Breathtaking Canals

The canals, the architecture, the history, the museums, the shops, the flowers....it is all very beautiful on the surface; the hedonistic Amsterdam is not so pretty.

It was a study in humanity,

The doorway to Otto Franks Business

It was shocking, it was stunning,

The Aalsmeer Flower Auction

it was heartbreaking,

The Secret Bookcase

it was breathtaking. Hopefully I'll get to go back someday

My SP9 Pal was from the Netherlands, she's a lovely person. She doesn't post scenery photos very often, those were excellent. Thanks.

Terrific A. Well done. (and thanks for not agreeing that I'm just loony with the bird sounds)

btw - you have the longest string of letters in the word verification of anyone around... what does that say about your blog?
